Yoni Worship: Ask Suzie
In any Tantric practice, involving partners, it isn’t necessary to have your partner even be aware of what you are practicing. It helps tremendously, of course, but it isn’t necessary. Both of you will benefit from the experiences and the ‘unknowing’ one may actually fall right into a sort of natural Tantric rhythm once a few sessions have happened. Having your partner/lover not interested is no reason not to proceed!… Continue reading
I’ll Have What She’s Having: How Mirror Neurons and Music Increase Pleasure
I went to see Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal the other night in Oakland California. The setting was beautiful and the crowd was thrilled with the music and the vibes. Late in the program, as they sang a lusty, bluesy song together Taj began to wave his hands in the air and he encouraged us all to do it with him. Everyone began waving their hands and arms in the air and we all fell into a side-to-side sweeping, wave of ecstatic dancing! We were like one big sea anemone, an organism, waving in a sea of music and bodies and bliss. Continue reading

Valentines: On The Importance Of Sensate Focus On Awareness (Video)
I’m lying on the beach at Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawai’i. This beach and the one just to the South of it, Hapuna, vie for the distinction of being the most beautiful beaches in all of the United States (Conde Nast Traveler). Of course it would be difficult not to feel as though you were in Heaven here. The breeze, the sun, the just right ocean, the soft waves and the fact that you are probably on vacation if you’re here, all add up to a wonderful experience. Continue reading

Partner As Guru: Relationship As An Evolutionary Tool (VIDEO)
I had an agenda. I wanted him to love me unconditionally because I felt that I had loved him that way for many years and he hadn’t reciprocated the way I wanted him to. This is unconditional? Obviously this isn’t the way to heal from whatever it was that caused me to even think I could get what every woman (and man for that matter) fantasizes about and thinks they want – pure devotion. Ah…

Studying Love Instead Of War — What If?
Do you remember the old folk ballad Down By the River Side – The one that has the line “I ain’t gonna study war no more”? What if everyone studied Love instead? What would life be like if we humans had made a turn, somewhere deep in the past, that lead us down a path of love instead of fear and hate? Would we have been much more careful about population explosion, hunger, abuse, control issues and infanticide? Would we have cared for those we did have and cherished and cared for the earth in better ways? Would there be no ‘us and them’ in this scenario? Continue reading
Add Intensity To Life: Pay Attention (VIDEO)
Research in the past few years is confirming that practices like meditation improve not only focus and attention but that it improves cognition, also. This is not only true of those practiced at meditation but of those new to the practice, too. A study reported in June of 2007 from researchers Amishi Jha and Michael Baime of the University of Pennsylvania found that mediation changes the way the brain works at the level of attention, the ability to prioritize, manage tasks and goals, focus on specific information and stay alert in whatever environment a person might find themselves in. Research has also found that improving attention makes whatever you are experiencing seem more intense… Continue reading
The New Purpose of Sex: Unplug Into the ‘Now’
Ok, let’s keep that intense, new love stuff, the dopamine high. Then, if two people decide that they are very much in love and want to move to the next steps of relationship the ‘cuddle’ affect takes over. And though sex may slow down the bond between the lovers gets tighter. Then a few years go by, there are babies and careers and a mortgage and responsibilities galore. Time seems to have disappeared and stress can seem to take center stage. What does love look like now?… Continue reading

Ritual and Ceremony: Innate Longing for a Revival of Tribal Intimacy
We go to places where we will find our ‘tribe’ because we want to be surrounded by the same values, actions and activities that stimulate us. This is a process of activation of mirror neurons. Mirror neurons help us to assimilate with the others of our family, culture, society and tribe. The same areas of our brain that fire when we see someone else doing an action, fire when we do the action ourselves. This is part of what makes us social human beings… Continue reading
How I Want To Be When I Grow Up – 1
Knowing how your brain is structurally “wired” can change the way you consider your actions, and can help transform how you act and react. Emotions like fear, anxiety, frustration and anger first get a reactive response from what you might … Continue reading
